What Can I Do to Promote the Campaign?

Published by CP Team

We’ve put together some ideas for you of ways and means that you can help to gather support and get the word really out there about the petition!

* Starbucks is well known because it’s everywhere, right? We need to do the same with this petition! Imagine if every one of you looking at this page right now posted a link to this site (or even the petition closest to you) on your LJ, Twitter, Facebook, Bebo or Myspace statuses…how many people would be made aware?

* Word of mouth is what this campaign is all about. Tell your friends, family and colleagues…show them this site or the webpage of the petition closest to you and get them signing! One signature only takes a minute. How can anyone say no to that?!

* Go here and snag a graphic. Edit your email/message board signatures to show this graphic with a link, such that your petition is advertised on every work and personal email/post you send.

* Message boards are another awesome opportunity to really spread the word. Create a new thread and educate people on the campaign: What is it for? Why are we doing it? Can they help? Being clear and concise with your message here is key.

*Also, take a few minutes to think of all the websites you use on a regular basis. Can you ask them to provide a link to us, or even better (!): the petitions?

* A little more out there, but if you’re able to approaching your local newspapers, radio stations etc….is GREAT for publicity. Nearly everyone knows at least Rupert as his role of Ron in Harry Potter and public campaigns are always in favour!

* Do you write a blog or visit a certain blog all of the time? Posting here is another sure fire way of guaranteeing interest for our cause.

* Do you have a sports club, sorority etc…club that you go to often? Telling people here is a great idea! You don’t need to shout it from the rooftops, subliminal and subtle messages about the campaign will usually give people enough of a trigger to come and check out what is happening. I.e. “Hey, did you see…?” “Did you know about…?” “Did you hear of….?”

* Are you passionate about this campaign? Really hardcore? Then take it to the streets. We will be organizing petitions on the streets of London, Zurich, Washington DC, Belfast, at LeakyCon and more! Want to organize a street campaign close to you? Get in touch! We’ll have more news on this to come shortly.

Any more ideas of what we can do? Let us know!

TLFC have passed the power completely to the fans for this. Let’s show them what we can do!
